When you are starting off, your ad sheet can be a simple A4 page folded in half to look like an A5 with four sides to it. Think of a name for your ad sheet and have that printed at the top of the first page.

Then calculate the remaining spaces and divide them into equal decent sized blocks. Decide on the number of copies of this ad sheet that you would like to circulate. Work out the printing and distribution costs. Add a 100% mark up to this figure and divide the total by the number of blocks you have. Each block will be an ad. The figure you get will be the price you will charge mail order companies to advertise in your ad sheet. Obviously you can add a surcharge for ads on the front and back pages as these will experience more exposure.

At the very beginning, chose good, solid mail order companies. Write to them and offer them a free ad. Then ask them to send the artwork. Place these ads onto the ad sheet and have them printed to the quantity you decided.

Now distribute these ad sheets through the post, dropping in mail boxes, on windshields, etc. After a few weeks, call the mail order companies who you've given free ads to. Ask them to now take a paid ad in your ad sheet.

If you have done a good job at the beginning and distributed your ad sheets in the proper way, these companies would have received responses from their ads. They will definitely want to pay for ads this time round as they can see that your publication is effective for them.

As you gain more exposure and experience, expand your publication by adding more pages and taking on more advertisers. You can shape this into a highly profitable and exciting money making home business.
